Jon Sallinen collides with the cameraman, Freeski Halfpipe qualification

Finnish freestyle skier Jon Sallinen was involved in a horrific collision with a cameraman during today’s Freeski Halfpipe Qualifying at the Beijing Winter Olympics.

The 21-year-old was in the middle of his run when he climbed over the edge and made contact with the cameraman, who was positioned at the lip of the halfpipe.

It appeared that the cameraman might have been too close to the edge of the halfpipe.

Despite the collision, Sallinen continued his run but only scored 18.00 out of 100.

The Finnish freestyle skier managed another run, but it wasn’t enough to take the next step.

“I didn’t even know if I was going to ski on my second run after I crashed. Hope the cameraman is okay, I landed right on top of him,” he said after the event.

The cameraman involved was able to resume his duties shortly after the incident.
