John Gibson ‘committed’ to playing for the Ducks

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson has been in trade talks since the end of the 2021-22 season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of many teams in the market for an upgrade between the pipes. With the Ducks seemingly years away from competition and Gibson aging with an expensive contract, his name naturally came up as a possible candidate for Toronto.

However, on Sunday, Gibson’s agent, Kurt Overhardt, clarified the situation for his client.

“John Gibson has absolutely no interest in playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs,” Overhardt said via Nick Kypreos of The Fan 590. “He’s attached to the Anaheim Ducks.”
