Fleck was allowed to return home on Wednesday, where he will continue to be closely watched by Blades medics.

“Sheffield United are grateful to announce that John Fleck has been released from hospital and will return to Sheffield today,” read a statement from the Championship side.

“He was conscious when he was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital and was communicating with the club and medical staff, as well as his family.

“After full medical examinations and an overnight hospital stay for observation, he has been cleared home, where United medical staff will continue to monitor him closely.

“United and John Fleck would like to thank everyone who helped out at a stressful time last night, as well as everyone for their messages of support. “

Fleck lost the ball just past the hour mark on Tuesday, with teammates promptly calling for medical assistance.

The Scotsman was given oxygen and, after a ten minute delay, was taken on a stretcher and off the ground to a waiting ambulance.

The South Yorkshire club held on for a first win in four games thanks to a goal from Jayden Bogle.

After the game Blades boss Jokanovic said: “John is aware, he’s in the hospital, he’s talking to the medics and he’s in good hands.

“We hope everything will be fine and we hope everything will be fine. He was talking and he asked for the result.

“I didn’t really see the incident, but it looked like he had just collapsed, with no physical contact around him.

“I am not a doctor but the news is positive. It was not an easy situation for everyone.
