Joel Embiid indefinitely with orbital fracture, concussion

The 76ers will play in the second round of the NBA playoffs, but likely without Joel Embiid.

Embiid suffered a right orbital fracture and a minor concussion in Thursday’s decisive 132-97 victory over the Raptors, and there are would have no timetable for the return of the star center with the 76ers set to face the Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals starting Monday.

With four minutes remaining in Game 6, Embiid elbowed Toronto’s Pascal Siakam in the face, who was given an offensive foul. Embiid sat on the bench for the rest of the game. As the Philadelphia star walked off the field, Raptors fans chanted “f–k Embiid.”

Embiid had 33 points and 10 rebounds in 36 minutes.

Apparently, there is no timeline for when Joel Embiid will join the Sixers.

Losing Embiid would be devastating for the Sixers heading into the series against the top-seeded Heat. Miami enters Monday’s opener with star player injury questions as well: Jimmy Butler (knee) and Kyle Lowry (hamstring) missed Tuesday’s deciding game against the Hawks.
