Joe Root was named PCA Male Player of the Year and LV = Insurance Test Player of the Summer

Joe Root and Eve Jones were named PCA Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year respectively, with Harry Brook and Alice Capsey winning the Young Player honors.

England Test captain Root has scored hundreds of goals in three straight games against India and finished the Summer Test with 661 points in six games, averaging 66.10.

Root – also named LV = First-time Insurance Test Player of the Summer – scored 1,455 tests in 2021 with an average of 66.13, with his winter including two double cents and a score of 186 on the assignments in Sri Lanka and India.

Root beat competition from David Bedingham of Durham, Luke Fletcher of Nottinghamshire and Simon Harmer of Essex to take home the male player of the year award.

Eve Jones is the first national cricketer to win the PCA Player of the Year award

Alice Capsey is the youngest winner of one of the awards voted by PCA players

Capsey, 17, is the first PCA Young Female Player of the Year award winner and the youngest player to win one of the PCA player-voted awards.

Capsey won the gong ahead of Dunkley and Charlie Dean after contributing with a bat and ball to help the South East Stars win the Charlotte Edwards Cup and the Oval Invincibles triumph in The Hundred.

Harry Brook impressed for Yorkshire and Northern Superchargers this summer
