The future president and vice-president of the United States announced the creation of a Gender Policy Council within the White House with the objective, according to them, of promoting gender equality through, for example, the “Racial justice”.
On January 19, 2021, United States President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris announced the creation of a Gender Policy Council (Gender Policy Council) within the White House. According to them, this will aim to advance the country towards gender equality.
In its statement, the transition team said the council would help guide and “coordinate government policy that impacts women and girls” on a variety of issues, including “racial justice” and “Economic security,” and would work in cooperation with other White House councils.
“Too many women are struggling to make ends meet and provide for their families, and too many of them cannot sleep at night, worried about the economic future of their children,” Joe Biden said, estimating: “It was true before the Covid-19 pandemic, but the current health crisis has made these burdens infinitely heavier on women across the country.”
“I look forward to working with these deeply knowledgeable and experienced public servants to address the challenges women and girls face and build a more equitable and just nation,” said future Vice President Kamala Harris.
