Jim Jordan set to fail again in third presidential vote

WASHINGTON—Republican nominee for president, Rep. Jim Jordan was poised to fail in the third round of voting to get the gavel Friday morning after struggling to win support from colleagues opposed to his candidacy, likely leaving Republicans in yet another bind.

While the Ohio conservative campaigned as a president who could unite the party, he continues to face great challenges, a full week after securing the GOP nomination and more than two weeks after the ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.). Republicans currently have no fallback plan after rejecting a proposed vote on granting more powers to the President Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry (R., NC).
