First Lady Jill Biden wore a “LOVE” blazer Thursday in a move that is interpreted as a disagreement with former First Lady Melania Trump’s 2018 “I don’t care” jacket.
The first lady was pictured wearing a jacket with ‘LOVE’ on the back while in Cornwall, England with President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie Johnson ahead of the G7 summit .
Fashion enthusiasts on social media drew immediate comparisons to former First Lady Melania Trump’s infamous green jacket that read, “I really don’t care, do I?” The ex-first lady later confessed that the post was aimed at “left-wing people and media who criticize me.”
Jill Biden told Bloomberg’s Jennifer Jacobs that his jacket signified a call for unity.
“I think we bring love to America,” said the first lady. “I think this is a world conference and we are trying to create unity across the world and I think it’s important right now that you have a sense of unity.”
Jacobs herself wrote that Biden seemed to be trolling Melania on her 2018 “I don’t care” jacket that she wore on her way to the Mexican border to visit children separated from their families.
The Trumps were embroiled in a contentious relationship with the press and outcry was growing against the administration’s border policing at the time.
The internet has also seen a bit of mockery throughout Jill Biden. One user called her a “shadow queen”.
