Jets move Mekhi Becton to left tackle in offensive line shakeup against Patriots

With left tackle Duane Brown injured, the Jets are making major changes along the offensive line.

According to sources, Mekhi Becton will move from right tackle to left tackle against the Patriots on Sunday.

Becton started the first two games at right tackle, but practiced at left tackle all week with Brown dealing with a hip injury.

Alijah Vera-Tucker will move from right guard to right tackle, sources said. Vera-Tucker played four games at blocker last season.

Sources said he had been working at tackling for three weeks as a contingency plan.

Rookie Joe Tippmann will start at right guard.

Tippmann has yet to play after the Jets took him in the second round of the NFL draft out of Wisconsin.

Tippmann was a center in college but played a guard role during training camp.

Left guard Laken Tomlinson and center Connor McGovern are the only starters remaining at the same position they have been all season.

The Jets offensive line struggled last week against the Cowboys, allowing a lot of pressure.

The new lineup could fare better against the Patriots.
