Jeffrey Wright has only had “conversations” about a “The Batman” spin-off.
The 56-year-old actor plays Gotham City police officer James Gordon in the new superhero blockbuster and admits he hasn’t considered reprising the role in a Gotham PD spin-off series for the service of streaming HBO Max.
Jeffrey told ComicBook.com, “Those surfaces haven’t been scratched too deep on my end, either particularly because what I’m really focused on is getting this movie out first.
“Let’s get this one out before we start considering other things. I mean, I haven’t thought about it.”
Wright added: “There have been conversations about it.”
The actor is no stranger to big franchises after playing Dr Felix Leiter in the James Bond series and he revealed he loves the passion fans show for the characters.
Jeffrey said, “What I love about these characters and this franchise is, and I’ve been in big franchises, you know, I just did the last Bond, I did some of those ‘Hunger Games’… The passion for those movies, the Batman movies and the comics, is like nothing I’ve ever seen as an actor.”
The ‘Westworld’ actor also opened up about how fans have provided their own story suggestions for movies like ‘The Batman.’
He said: “What I love, and we also experienced this with ‘Westworld’, is that the fans are also the authors of these pieces.
“And whole stories about the direction of the movie, and the nature of the characters, and the nature of the characters, and the stories, which I think are legit like anything that’s written, you know, in the comics or on a script of movie.
“So I know people have their imaginations about, you know, all these other things. Those are legit, but yeah, let’s just release that first movie. Let’s just release that movie.”
