William Shatner visited space on Wednesday on a brief trip which he called “the most profound experience I can imagine.”
In an emotional conversation with Blue Origin and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, he sought to translate raw emotion into words and reflect on what had just happened.
But it looks like Shatner’s post-flight attitude varied wildly from what Bezos had expected, whose first instinct was not to join Shatner in a grim reflection on the importance of space – but to cut him off. half-heartedly so that he could dip rich people in Champagne:
“Give me a bottle of champagne, come on. I want one, ”Bezos says in a featured video, gesturing to a woman on the outskirts who brings up a cheerfully.
“I want to hear that,” he adds, speaking above Shatner, before offering him the open bottle: “Here, do you want some of that?”
Shatner scratches his head and stares at the ground, declining Bezos’ offer. Bezos then warmly shakes the bottle and sprays it all over the place amid the cries of celebration.
