Japanese tourist boat missing with 26 people on board

TOKYO—Searchers were looking for a tourist boat early Sunday that disappeared in rough seas in a remote part of northern Japan with 26 people on board.

The Japanese military said it sent a search plane to the Shiretoko Peninsula, a rugged area at the northern tip of Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, as hopes faded that survivors could be found in icy waters.
