Jane’s Addiction cancels remaining tour dates after onstage fight

American band Jane’s Addiction have cancelled the remaining dates of their tour, days after a fight on stage in bostonMassachusetts.

On Friday night, the band – originally from Los Angeles – cut their set short after frontman Perry Farrell punched guitarist David Navarro.

In a statement posted on social media Monday, the band said they had “made the difficult decision to take a break as a group.”

The band also said refunds will be made at the point of purchase for cancelled dates.

The band had 12 shows left across the United States before their tour was canceled, ending in their hometown on October 16.

Footage posted on social media from Friday night’s concert showed Farrell, 65, yelling at and punching Navarro, 57, before being restrained by staff and taken off stage at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion.

According to Farrell’s wife, Etty, there had been growing “tension and animosity” between the band members “night after night” before the incident.

She added that Farrell was frustrated by the volume at which the band was playing.

Jane’s Addiction formed in Los Angeles in 1985 and are considered one of the early successes of the alternative rock scene.

The band consists of Farrell, Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery.

They recently reunited after more than a decade apart.

Their hits include the songs Just Because, Been Caught Stealing and True Nature.

The rockers have released four albums together: Nothing’s Shocking (1988), Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990), Strays (2003) and The Great Escape Artist (2011).

In 2013, the group was honored with a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame.
