Jammu and Kashmir, BJP leader on civilian killings

Home Minister Amit Shah has taken the killing of two civilians outside a military camp in Rajouri seriously and a high-level investigation will be ordered to punish the culprits, the leader of Jammu and Cashmere BJP.

“Interior Minister Amit Shah has taken this incident very seriously. I have spoken to Interior Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. It is very important to have a very high level investigation into this incident,” Ravinder Raina, chairman of J&K BJP, said. .

Two civilians, Surinder Kumar and Kamal Kishore, were killed and another person was injured in a shooting outside a military camp on Friday morning.

The killings sparked massive protests and protesters blamed the military for the killings. The military, for its part, said the two civilians, who worked as laborers for the forces for the past 15 years, were killed in terrorist shootings. The men were shot as they approached the entrance to the military base on Friday.

“In an early morning shooting incident by unidentified terrorists in Rajouri near the military hospital, two people were killed. Police, security forces and civil administration officials are at the site “, tweeted the army.

J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called the incident unfortunate and announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the affected family.

“The Rajouri incident is very unfortunate. Condolences to the bereaved families. The price of a life cannot be fixed in monetary terms, but I am still announcing ex gratia relief of Rs five lakh for each affected family” , Mr. Sinha tweeted.

Mr Raina said the Lieutenant Governor also spoke with the head of the affected families and assured that justice would be served.

“Our country operates according to the law and no one is above the law. Anyone involved must face the law,” said Ravinder Raina.

The Jammu and Kashmir police said they filed a complaint and investigations are ongoing, while the military has also assured cooperation with the investigations.

“An FIR has been recorded. A thorough investigation will be conducted. Whatever the findings of the investigation, they will be shared. .

Yesterday, hundreds of protesters blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway, attacked a military camp with rocks. They demanded action against the army guards who they said had killed Surinder and Kamal Kishore.

As the protesters refused to back down, a senior army officer spoke to them and assured them he would cooperate with investigations and help families who have lost loved ones.

Earlier, the J&K BJP state chairman called for a court of inquiry into the shooting incident. He said he hoped the military would maintain the highest standards and respond to the allegations accordingly.

“As in the past, when civilians were killed in Shopian, the army organized a commission of inquiry and those involved were taken to task,” Raina said.

“I have full confidence in the Army, in this unfortunate and painful incident, the Army Northern Command will consider it and take action under the Army’s own court of inquiry.”

In July 2020, three Rajouri workers were killed in a Shopian staged posing as Pakistani terrorists.

A later army court of inquiry charged his men, including an officer, with killing innocent people.
