Jack Wilshere rules out early retirement despite rookie coaching badges at Arsenal academy

ack Wilshere says he is determined to continue his playing career, even though he started working on his coaching badges while training with Arsenal.

Wilshere is back at his old fitness club, having been released by Bournemouth at the end of last season.

The 29-year-old has also worked with former teammate Per Mertesacker, who runs the Gunners’ academy, but insists training is something for later in his career.

“Right now I’m getting my coach badges ready and the club is helping me with them and I’m also helping some of the kids in the Academy,” Wilshere told Sky Sports News.

“It’s definitely something I enjoy and maybe something to look at in the future but for now I still want to play.

“I feel like I still have a lot to give and something to prove, which is why I don’t want to stop playing now and start a coaching career right away.

“It’s nice to see some old faces that I’ve spent a lot of my life with.

“From a fitness point of view, I’m getting there and it’s great to train again with good players and the quality will only be good for me in the future.

“I am here [at Arsenal] until January and there is no news on any club, but hopefully something will happen then.
