Ivan Perisic will look to contact Luka Modric after Tottenham arrival

The 33-year-old became Antonio Conte’s first summer signing last week, signing a two-year deal after leaving Inter Milan, where he won the Serie A title with the Spurs boss in 2021.

Conte was convinced to stay at the club following assurances from chairman Daniel Levy and sporting director Fabio Paratici regarding transfer policy this summer.

Having broken their pattern and opted for a player with little sell value, Perisic looks like an early win for Conte on that front, given Tottenham’s tendency to buy into younger markets.

The Croatian follows a number of international team-mates to north London with Modric, Corluka, Kranjcar and goalkeeper Stipe Pleitkosa having represented Spurs.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Perisic said: “I’ve known them (Luka, Vedran, Stipe, Niko) since I was a kid. Then later I played with them in the national team. ‘Charlie’ ( nickname of Vedran) is also my national team coach now.

“Luka has just won his fifth Champions League with Real Madrid. Niko is also a national team coach and Stipe is doing some work around the national team. I have a lot of contact with them and now I will ask them questions about the Club, the city and I’m sure they will help me.
