Confirming the wedding, Alia shared photos of the minimalist fairytale wedding with the caption: “Today, surrounded by our family and friends, at home…in our favorite place – the balcony where we have spent the last 5 years of our relationship – we got married. With so much already behind us, we look forward to building more memories together… memories full of love, laughter, comfortable silences, movie nights, silly fights, wine delights and Chinese bites. Thank you for all the love and light during this very important time in our lives. It made this time even more special. Love, Ranbir and Alia.”

Alia Bhatt’s brother, Rahul Bhatt, revealed after the wedding that the couple only took four pheras, instead of the traditional seven. “He (the pandit) explained the meaning of each phera. Ek hota hain dharm ke liye, ek hota hain santaan ke liye, so it was really fascinating. We weren’t exposed to that. I come from a home of several ethnicities. So it was fascinating. There were not 7 pheras but 4 pheras for the record,” he told India Today.
The pair met on the Brahmāstra sets and started dating quite early. They made their first public appearance together at Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja’s wedding reception in 2018. The couple got married after dating for five years.
Ayan Mukerji’s director Brahmāstra is set for release on September 9, 2022 and also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjun and Mouni Roy as well as Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
