Israeli war cabinet resumes hostage deal discussions, official says

An Egyptian delegation visited Israel on Friday to try to avert a planned Israeli offensive in Rafah, where much of Gaza’s population has been displaced, according to an Israeli official who spoke on condition of anonymity in due to the sensitivity of the issue. The trip, which follows an Israeli war cabinet meeting Thursday to discuss hostage deal negotiations, marks a resumption of efforts to negotiate a deal after months of failed negotiations. National security adviser Jake Sullivan told MSNBC on Friday that there was “new momentum, new life” in the hostage and ceasefire talks.
