Israeli PM backs Palestinian state in speech at UN

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid told the United Nations on Thursday that he supported the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside his country, but aides said he did not plan to launch peace talks anytime soon.

“An agreement with the Palestinians, based on two states for two peoples, is the right thing for Israel’s security, for Israel’s economy and for the future of our children,” Lapid said.
