Israel issues evacuation warning to Lebanese civilians as it launches ‘massive’ strikes

The militia responded with its own series of attacks, firing dozens of rockets toward Israel in one of its deepest strikes since the start of the war.

While many of the 150 rockets, cruise missiles and drones launched by Hezbollah have been intercepted by Israeli air defenses, the Israeli military said Sunday, “there have been a small number of cases of impacts and interceptor debris falling on” Israeli territory.

The Israeli military is also investigating reports that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in a recent Israeli airstrike, an Israeli official told NBC News. At this point, Israel does not have enough evidence to confirm or deny his death, the official said.

Suspicions that Sinwar may have been killed are based on Israeli intelligence that indicates he has not communicated with the outside world for several weeks, the official said, but he added that there is no positive evidence of his death.

The news was first reported by Axios.

Raf Sanchez reported from Tel Aviv, Israel, and Mithil Aggarwal from Hong Kong.
