Delhi Capitals beat Punjab Kings by 9 wickets to register their third win in IPL 2022 to ensure they stay in the playoff contention this season. The Delhi team had been hit by the covid-19 virus and Axar Patel revealed how focused they remained in their game against the Punjab Kings.
Delhi Capitals were rocked by covid-19 cases days before their game against Punjab Kings in IPL 2022. The team was unable to play at all levels Mitchell Marsh which was a certainty on the side as it brings the balance they need. But, as Mitchell Marsh tested positive for the virus, he was unable to play the match against Punjab. As many as six people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Delhi contingent.
Axar Patel, the versatile Delhi Capitals player performed brilliantly in the match against Punjab and finished with numbers of 4/10 in his four overs. Patel after the game revealed how the team remained motivated even after all that was happening in the camp and credited the head coach Ricky Bridge for helping them.
“We were quarantined and we started training two to three days after that, he (Ponting) told us we had two options. We have to play the game. You can think there are cases positive, and the preparations are not complete.”Or you may feel that all the external things are not in our hands and you have to be committed to the effort and the preparation,” said Axar Patel .
“We were focused on our game (and) we did our planning (according to that). So there you have it, that was the talk and that was our mindset,” he concluded.
