IPL 2022 | They have a very weak bowling side, says Mohammad Azharuddin on MI bowlers

Mumbai Indians are having a torrid time in this year’s IPL as they have lost 5 games in a row which has made it difficult for them to qualify for the playoffs. Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin is of the opinion that the Mumbai Indians team does not have a good bowling team.

Mumbai Indians have lost five consecutive games in IPL 2022 which was their worst performance in a long time. The batters did well in pieces, but their bowling didn’t click as well as in previous years. With the team overhaul in the mega-auction, it still seems like they haven’t found the right balance in the playing XI. Former India skipper Mohammad Azharouddin believes that the team management failed to solve the “basic problem”.

The former India skipper speaking to Crictracker said: “You can’t rely on just one player because cricket has always been a team game and it’s not an individual sport and on the 11 players, at least 8-9 players have to play well then only you can win a game but if only 2-3 players are performing it becomes very difficult and you can’t put pressure only on senior players and i know they are supposed to bear all the pressure, but sometimes it affects them as well.”

“If you see, they’ve only got six hitters, so when Unadkat came in at No. 7 (against PBKS), the opposition knew no one else was behind them and maybe they shouldn’t have have those runouts Suryakumar Yadav beat really well but you can’t blame him because in the end if the day you have a good drummer playing the others have to rally around him. they have a very weak bowling team and their batter…they have a good batting team with two young boys who hit very well, but a bit of inexperience also cost them the game.

Mohammad Azharuddin looked at MI’s bowling which hasn’t done well this season and said, “Their bowling is the only reason their over run rate has gone up because they don’t have good bowlers to get wickets. In T20, if you don’t keep getting wickets, it becomes difficult for the batting side to score more runs or fix the target. This is the basic problem they have. They have a good batting team, but what’s the point if they give up 14 to 16 runs per over?
