IPL 2022 points chart, orange cap and purple cap


The ongoing 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) tenth match saw Gujarat Titans (GT) defeat Delhi Capitals (DC) at MCA Stadium, Pune. The team managed by Hardik Pandya have won their second game in a row and are now third in the points table.

Gujarat Titans (GT) became the second team to defend a total in the tournament after Rajasthan Royals (RR). The team put in a spirited bowling performance to defend the 172-point goal.

Rolling on Shubman Gill’s career-best 84 and Rahul Tewatia’s pyrotechnics at the end, GT managed to score 171 in their 20 overs allowed.

Lockie Ferguson led from the front while defending the score. The right arm stimulator recorded numbers from 4 to 28 to dismantle the exhausted DC strike unit. He was well supported by Mohammad Shami and Rashid Khan with the wet ball.

Gujarat Titans are now the only undefeated team in the tournament along with Rajasthan Royals. With two out of two wins under Pandya’s leadership, the new franchise moved up to third place and are only behind the Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) due to their net run rate. A 14-point win over DC gave them a net run rate of .495.

After their first defeat of the season, the team managed by Rishabh Pant are fourth in the points table. Their net stroke rate drops to 0.065, slightly on the plus side of the scale.

Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill entered the top 10 on the Orange Cap list after a sublime 84-point shot. The youngster had started the tournament with a disappointing duck against LSG.

Ishan Kishan and Jos Buttler have made a great start to the season, with a 40 point lead over the rest of the field.

Mohammad Shami backed up his player of the match display against LSG with another decent outing. The right-arm pacer recorded numbers of 2-30 claiming the wickets of Rovman Powell and Khaleel Ahmed.

Khaleel Ahmed, who started his spell with the Capitals on a bright note, also moved up the list in ninth place with four wickets in two matches.
