IPL 2022, MI vs. PBKS

T20 is a format of cricket where things amaze fans out of nowhere and Dewald Brevis, affectionately known as ‘Baby AB’, put on such a spectacle against the Punjab Kings on Wednesday April 13. Brevis, coming at bat at No. 3 for MI, crushed Rahul Chahar four-sixing sixes in the ninth.

Mumbai Indians (MI) were on the back foot after coming on to chase down a massive 199 target against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Game 23 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. They were 63/2 after eight overs, with both openers Rohit Sharma and Ichan Kishan back to the pavilion. Team MI management decided to demote their in-form hitter Suryakumar Yadav and asked Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma to bat at numbers 3 and 4 respectively.

Brevis had a scorching start with the bat, taking nine balls out of the mark. But it didn’t take long to set the stage on fire when former MI man Rahul Chahar entered the attack in the ninth inning. It was a pure Brevis onslaught on Chahar from third to last ball in that game, as the first one sent them all into the crowd. Two of those four sixes also broke the 100-yard mark, and with those crazy strikes MI turned the game around.

However, the innings didn’t last long enough as Odean Smith got it in the 11th and gave it an angry sendoff. Brevis went down for 49 on 25 balls, with five sixes and four fours.
