IPL 2022 | KL Rahul creates history and becomes first Indian to score 500+ runs for fifth consecutive IPL campaign
KL Rahul scored over 500 points in an IPL season for the fifth consecutive time in IPL 2022 Game 66 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. Rahul became the first Indian to achieve this rare feat by scoring 68 off 51 balls against KKR.
Skipper of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) KL Rahul cleared 500 runs in an IPL edition for the fifth consecutive time in their match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Rahul, in the process, became the first Indian to achieve the feat by scoring 68 off 51 balls, with four sixes and three fours, to help his side record a hard-fought three-point victory.
Before joining LSG for IPL 2022, Rahul had been playing for Punjab Kings since 2018. He scored 659 points in IPL 2022 and then finished with 593 points the following season. In 2020 he went on to win the Cap Orange after finishing with 670 races. He was also seen in decent touch in IPL 2021, scoring 616 points in 13 games.
“500 runs in IPL for @klrahul for the fifth consecutive season. Becomes the first Indian player to achieve the feat,” IPL tweeted.

On Wednesday night, Rahul was second fiddle to Quinton de Kock, who had an undefeated 140 on 70 balls against KKR. LSG, straddling that, 210 runs for the opening wicket – the highest ever in IPL – after going for the bat. In response, KKR tried as hard as they could, but finished 210/8.
