IPL 2022 | Jason Roy withdraws from tournament due to bubble fatigue

England batsman Jason Roy has pulled out of the IPL 2022 citing the challenge of staying in the tournament bubble for an extended period. According to a report from ESPNcricinfo, Roy informed Gujarat Titans of his decision to skip the upcoming season last week and they are yet to finalize a replacement.

IPL 2022 will be an exciting season with 10 participating teams and a new dynamic as the teams will be playing with a new group of players they bought from the mega auction. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are new franchises for the upcoming season. Bought Titans Jason Roy in the mega auction for Rs 2 Crore. However, the team suffered a major blow before the tournament started as Roy withdrew from the tournament.

He withdrew from the tournament citing the challenge of remaining in the tournament bubble for an extended period. The right-hander recently had a strong outing in PSL 2022 with 303 points with an average of 50.50 and a strike rate of 170.22.

Roy isn’t the first player to pull out of the IPL due to bubble fatigue. In order to stay mentally fit while traveling through the bio-bubbles, several players have opted out of the tournament in the past.
