Mumbai Indians won their first match of IPL 2022 by beating Rajasthan Royals at DY Patil Stadium on Saturday. The match witnessed a moment between Suryakumar Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal that went viral on the internet as the MI hitter was seen consoling Chahal after a referee’s decision.
Bombay Indians defeated the Rajasthani Royals by 5 wickets on Saturday to win their first match of IPL 2022. Rajasthan Royals after striking for the first time managed to post 158/6 against MI. Suryakumar Yadav was once again the star with the bat for the Mumbai Indians as he scored 51 from 39 and ensured his team were in good position to win the game. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav have formed an important partnership for their team.
However, what caught everyone’s attention was when Yuzvendra Chahal appealed against Suryakumar Yadav for an LBW which was denied by the referee. Chahal and his skipper Sanju Samson immediately went for DRS and replays suggested the ball was just cutting bails and the third umpire called it a referee’s call. Seeing this, Chahal was discouraged, but what followed was Surykumar Yadav putting his hand around Chahal’s shoulder as a sweet joke.
The MI striker spoke about the incident during the post-match presentation and said: “During the match I didn’t say anything to him and it was just a sweet joke between him and me, but I’m really glad I got away with the ref call and the way things went after that. He’s a great bowler and I liked having that fight between him and me in the middle” .
