IPL 2022 | I can be India’s top finisher in years to come, remarks Riyan Parag

Rajasthan Royals’ versatile player Riyan Parag has said he could be India’s best finisher in the coming years with the skills he possesses. Parag further added that he has to work in many areas and hence he will improve his stick not only for RR but also for the Indian team.

IPL 2022 has started and Rajasthani Royals proved to be a very strong team and title contenders in the tournament. They feature a world-class bowling unit and have a very good batting rating. Riyan Parag has been an integral part of the team this season so far and has scored 25 points for RR so far. Parag comes to bat in the lower order and can act as a finisher.

Since MS Dhoniretired, India was looking for a finisher in the roster. Hardik Pandya was the best option, but a decline in batting form and then an injury ruled him out of the team. Parag backed himself for the role saying he can be the Indian team’s top finisher in the future.

“I don’t want to brag too much but I think I can be the best finisher not only for Rajasthan Royals but also for India in the years to come. I have the skills, I have the all-rounder abilities and not just batting, outfield and bowling Yes I have a lot to work on and I have to be consistent I have to work a lot in many areas but I strongly believe I can do it for the team Rajasthan Royals and for the country as well,” Parag said on “Red Bull’s Greatness Starts Here” in a video shared by CricTracker.

Parag has been announced as captain of Assam and he holds this moment close to his heart. He is convinced of his skills as a captain and believes he can be a “cool” captain like MS Dhoni.

“It was very special. I captained the Mushtaq Ali team last year and this year as well. I still consider myself a captain, even when I’m not a team captain, and I think always up to my game like that. So being the official captain of the state team was a very humbling and great moment. I don’t mean like MS, but I try to copy MS a bit in that factor. But yeah, I’m the cool one. I’m not very aggressive,” he explained.
