IPL 2022 | Devon Conway has class, says Mohammad Kaif

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings therefore didn’t have a great IPL 2022 as they struggle to qualify for the playoffs this season. But, the good thing for them is Devon Conway’s form and the former Indian cricketer has praised the southpaw who has struck superbly in recent games.

The reigning champions Chennai Super Kings haven’t had a great IPL 2022 as they will need a lot to qualify if they want to make the playoffs this season. CSK did not start the tournament well as they lost 5 out of the six games they played under Ravindra Jadeja‘s captaincy at the start. Following this, Ravindra Jadeja decided to step down from the captaincy of the franchise and return it to MS Dhoni.

Devon Conway, CSK opening batsman has been a game changer for the CSK team. The southpaw beat beautifully in recent games which helped the MS Dhoni-led side get bright starts and set the tone for the rest of the games. Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has had nothing but praise for the batter who has smashed three consecutive fifties for his team.

“After playing just an odd game, he (Devon Conway) was dropped. The way Conway hit, Chennai will regret their previous mistake. They will think ‘we made a mistake; we couldn’t use it properly”. Conway has class. I watched all his rounds, he has all types of shots. He plays 360 angle shots, plays reverse sweep and (conventional) sweep “He also uses his feet well. The bowlers don’t know what shot he’s going to play. Conway played a wonderful round on a pitch where the ball was eye-catching,” Sportskeeda quoted Mohammad Kaif as saying.

CSK hopes that Devon Conway can replicate his performance in his next matches as well.
