IPL 2022 | Adam Milne ruled out of IPL with hamstring injury, CSK announce Matheesha Pathirana as replacement

Chennai Super Kings have suffered a major blow for their 2022 IPL campaign as Adam Milne has been ruled out of the competition with a hamstring injury. An official statement confirmed that the franchise has announced that Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana will replace him for the remainder of the season.

IPL 2022 has been a disappointing campaign so far for Chennai Super Kings as they only managed to win one game in six matches. The team is sorely lacking the services of Deepak Chahar who provides them with power play wickets. The team has now suffered another blow as Adam Milne has been ruled out of the current season with a hamstring injury. Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana has been announced as his replacement by the franchise. The development has been confirmed by IPL in an official statement.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed Matheesha Pathirana to replace New Zealand pacemaker Adam Milne for TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Milne suffered a hamstring injury in CSK’s opener against Kolkata Knight Riders and was ruled out for the remainder of the tournament,” the IPL said in an official statement.

“His replacement Pathirana is a 19-year-old average young manager from Sri Lanka who was part of Sri Lanka’s U19 World Cup squads in 2020 and 2022.”

The statement also added that Pathirana was signed for Rs 20 lakh and has only played two T20s so far. Its action is often compared to Lasith Malinga.

The CSK will have to face Bombay Indians next Thursday at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
