IPL 2022 | Aaron Finch will replace Alex Hales in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad

Australian limited series captain Aaron Finch will replace England striker Alex Hales in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for the upcoming Indian Premier League. Aaron Finch was brought in by the franchise after Alex Hales decided to pull out of the tournament at the last minute.

Kolkata Knight Riders roped into Australian limited overtaking skipper Aaron Finch for the next edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). Aaron Finch will replace Alex Hales who was originally part of the KKR team. England striker Alex Hales withdrew from the tournament at the last minute due to bubble fatigue. The right-handed hitter was bought by KKR in the IPL mega auction for 1.5 crore during the mega auction held in Bengaluru last month.

Kolkata Knight Riders announced Aaron Finch’s news in an official statement in which they revealed, “Finch, who has played 87 IPL games and has over 2000 IPL runs, will join KKR at a price of Rs 1.5 crore”.

Aaron Finch in the 2020 edition of the IPL had played for Bangalore Royal Challengers. This will be Finch’s 9th franchise he’ll play for when he dons the KKR jersey. The Australian limited-strike cricket captain led his side to their maiden T20 title in 2021 in Dubai.

Alex Hales, the hitter Aaron Finch will replace, took to social media to share the reason for his withdrawal from the cash-rich league. In the statement, Alex Hales on Twitter said: “Having spent the past four months away from home in bio-restrictive bubbles and having tested positive for COVID myself in Australia, I don’t feel like I can. commit myself for another extended period in a secure environment.

“It wouldn’t be fair to the team or to myself if I wasn’t able to perform at the level expected of me due to continued bubble fatigue. I’m really disgusted to have to turn down any of the best opportunities of my career because of the toll the last two years of living in the bubble have had on my mental well-being,” added Alex Hales.

“I will now take some time to rest and recharge before the summer,” he concluded.
