Iowa reports highly deadly bird flu in commercial laying hens

CHICAGO, March 11 (Reuters)Iowa reported an outbreak of highly deadly bird flu in a commercial flock of laying hens on Friday, raising the risk of new infections in the top egg-producing US state.

Iowa was already facing restrictions on exports of poultry products after a commercial flock of turkeys tested positive for the disease on Sunday.

In 2015, Iowa was at the center of the largest bird flu outbreak in the United States, which killed an estimated 50 million hens and laying turkeys.
