In a new post that has gone viral, the internet has slammed a mother who kicked her son out of the house after announcing he was marrying his late friend’s girlfriend.
Posted on the infamous Reddit forum, “AmITheA**hole”, the original poster (OP) used the disposable account u/throwra5-pledge to submit their story. The Reddit thread already has 7,000 upvotes and 1,000 comments.
According to the Association For Safe International Road Travel, more than 38,000 Americans die each year in car crashes, while an additional 4.4 million people are injured in crashes. The Redditor explained that his son Adam’s best friend Carlos, 24, tragically died in a car accident a few years ago. The duo was extremely close and had been friends of the family for a while. She admitted the loss was hard on the family.
Carlos had a girlfriend and a 4-year-old son, and Adam helped them through the loss. Meanwhile, Adam got a new job, so it was rare to see him. Once he started visiting his family, Adam’s parents noticed that he had changed for the better and wasn’t as devastated by the loss of Carlos as he was. in the old days. According to the PO, Adam then went to visit the family with Carlos’ girlfriend and son.
She wrote: “We had dinner and then all of a sudden he told us that he and Carlos’ girlfriend had started dating and announced their engagement there. I was in shock, I I didn’t expect this at all. I didn’t know what to say, but I felt upset and shocked mostly.”
She feared this would cause a conflict between the families which erupted into a heated conversation.
“He explained that I had upset his fiancée and that I should support him, but I said that he should have told me and that he should not have reunited with his best friend’s partner and maybe using his grief to get him to go out with him, he looked shocked and called me unbelievable, that’s when I asked him to leave my house,” a- she writes.
She revealed that Adam hasn’t contacted them since the incident while admitting that what they did was “angry” and that she “needed some time” before speaking to him.
Reddit users were quick to comment, slamming the Redditor.
“It’s been 2 years. The girlfriend is allowed to move on and find love again. I’m sure they grew closer supporting each other, so it’s no surprise. Intimacy doesn’t is not predatory,” u/EwokCafe said, receiving the top comment with more than 15,000 upvotes.
They continued: “You accused your son of being manipulative and predatory for no reason. You also made it seem ashamed that she is moving on and not permanently starting a grieving widow, which I’m sure you will. “She’s already had to overcome the emotions. You behaved very badly with both of them.
“YTA. Ma’am, Carlos is dead. If your son and his fiancée found comfort together after he passed away, that’s fine. S**** enough to accuse him of taking advantage of her,” one wrote. /WholeBroccoli9631.
U/AppleThrower5000 weighed in, saying, “It’s an easy YTA. Carlos is dead, it’s not like your son and his girlfriend are cheating on him. They’re probably both bound by grief over losing him. Is she supposed to stay single forever?”
