Inter Milan v Real Madrid LIVE comments and team news: European giants face off in Champions League group stage

Inter Milan welcome Real Madrid to San Siro this week in what promises to be a thrilling Champions League competition between European big guns.

The Nerazzurri have struggled in recent years, but have a new team poised for bigger things despite the departure of star striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lautaro Martinez had a deadly partnership with Lukaku, scoring 17 Serie A goals in Inter’s winning season last season.

Real have won the competition most recently on both sides with the Serie A club now without a European title for more than a decade.

Both Giants have a head-to-head level, with each gaining five wins each and only shooting once.

They also scored the same goal against each other, so expect another close game between them.

Inter Milan v Real Madrid: team news

Inter will have some injury issues ahead of this massive clash.

Alessandro Bastoni is likely out of the game due to a muscle injury while Stefano Sensi’s return is still unclear due to his ligament injury.

Inter are still without Christian Eriksen who has made an incredible comeback after collapsing in the Euro 2020 tournament.

The Danish star has resumed training since early August, but it will take time to fully recover and regain the match’s fitness.

Los Blancos, however, only have one injury issue with Gareth Bale.

The Welsh international will have to sit on the sidelines for a few months due to a hamstring injury.
