Inter Milan chief gives blunt assessment of Romelu Lukaku’s form and dashes hopes of permanent transfer away from Chelsea

Inter Milan are likely to snub the opportunity to sign Romelu Lukaku on a permanent deal from Chelsea this summer.
The 29-year-old striker has been told he will be returning to Stamford Bridge following the conclusion of his loan deal.

That’s according to Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta who claims the player is yet to return to his best form.
Although the Italian chief hasn’t ruled out Lukaku returning to a permanent deal, should he become injury-free and start firing on all cylinders.
“Lukaku market? He will return to Chelsea as it’s a direct loan, it’s part of the deal – so we’ll see.
“Lukaku is not in good shape yet, we are still waiting to see the real Romelu like we have seen in the past.”
The Belgium international revealed in an interview last summer that he is desperate to return to Inter.
However, the 104-cap star failed to live up to expectations after returning to the San Siro after struggling with fitness issues.

He has managed just five goals in 18 appearances this season, a far cry from the 64 in 95 he scored during his first spell at the club.
Lukaku remains keen on a move to the Serie A giants permanently, before ending his career at Anderlecht, saying: “Everyone knows what I want.
“I hope to stay at Inter. I love this club and we will talk to Chelsea to find a solution. Inter fans are really special, for me they are the best in the world.
“The idea is to end my career in Anderlecht.
“I’m almost 30, my son started school here and is playing at Inter’s academy. I want to stay here and do things right.
