Ingraham: High gas price-induced self-restrictions are ‘Biden’s new lockdown’

In her “Ingraham Angle” commentary on Wednesday, host Laura Ingraham explained how, with the federal coronavirus emergency easing, President Biden and his administration need a new way to lock down the people and keep under his control.

Ingraham said the record spike in gasoline prices is likely destined to do just that: While coronavirus mitigation orders have imposed travel barriers and socio-economic restrictions, Democrats’ refusal to show a real concern for the oil crisis could be that these costs restrict the ability of the middle class to travel and behave on a daily basis.

“Are we about to face another lockdown – another time when Americans feel like they can’t travel, they maybe can’t even go to work or see family – well, not travel for pleasure anyway – only for essential activities? asked Ingraham.

“[T]The COVID lockdowns: The senseless shutdowns that had no scientific basis. Today, it is not a virus that can prevent us from jumping in our cars and doing and going where we want. It’s the high gas prices and inflation caused by Joe Biden’s suicidal green agenda.”

“And like with COVID, they’re asking you to sacrifice yourself for the ‘greater good,'” she added.

“Now I’m old enough to remember when Democrats believed in things called hope and change,” Ingraham later said.

“But now they’ve pretty much given up on all of that with the Democrats, everything they’ve done to derail America. Biden’s long, dark winter is turning into a painful spring. And then he’s going to us bring a sweltering, miserable summer. And God knows how depressing the fall is going to be.”

Ingraham said there are parallels between now and the Carter-led 1970s: potential stagflation, gas price spikes and shortages, economic “malaise.”

However, she said that just like then, there is no longer a natural shortage of oil or strength that keeps inflation soaring – only left-wing policy ensures the pain is maximum.

“They believe the planet can’t sustain your standard of living, and more importantly, that you don’t deserve your standard of living,” Ingraham said.

“They think it’s high time you, your kids, your grandkids got used to living on less. This is all a replay of the 1970s, when we were told to drive slower, that we had to lower our thermostats in the winter and until the summer.”

“At the time, Jimmy Carter blamed the energy crisis, but remember, there was no energy crisis. We had a lot of energy in the 70s, just like we have a lot of energy now. crisis is self-inflicted, created by leaders who seem to enjoy punishing Americans instead of serving them, and they certainly don’t think people deserve questions about it answered.”

“This is our country. It belongs to the American people, not international bureaucrats. The salaries of every person in the Biden administration are paid by you and me. So going forward, the key question for every voter should be: Who will put your interests first?

“Who’s going to work for you, your family, your hopes, your dreams? We know it’s not Biden and the Democrats. But I think they’re about to disappear, I think they know the The future belongs to political leaders who help Americans triumph, not rejoice in their suffering.”
