India are set to face Australia in the second ODI of the three-game series at YS Raja Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. The hosts lead the series 1-0 after registering a five-wicket win over the visitors in the first ODI in Mumbai on Friday. Visakhapatnam is expected to experience severe thunderstorms, with four hours of rain expected, according to Accuweather. While many tickets have been sold out for the match, fans may be disappointed as rain could play a huge role on Sunday.
According to accuweather, Visakhapatnam is expected to have 77% cloud cover, with intermittent thunderstorms between 1 p.m. IST and 5 p.m. IST.
The humidity should be above 80% while the temperature will fluctuate between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius.
“Mostly cloudy with a few thunderstorms,” Accuweather predicted Sunday morning.
There was a little drizzle in the morning but the rain has stopped now.
In the first ODI, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja remained calm in a tricky 189 chase to lead India to a five-wicket win over Australia.
Australia were knocked out for 188 in 35.4 overs after a dramatic collapse after fly-half Mitchell Marsh’s 65-ball 81 in Mumbai.
India were struggling at 39-4 before Rahul (75 not knocked out) scored and an unbeaten sixth wicket of 108 with Jadeja (45 not knocked out) secured the hosts victory in 39.5 overs.
The hosts lead the three-game series 1-0 with both sides warming up for the 50+ World Cup later this year in India.
Rohit Sharma is set to return to captaincy after missing the first ODI due to a family commitment.
