India records 2,151 Covid cases in past 24 hours, highest in 5 months

India recorded 2,151 new coronavirus cases, the highest in five months, while active cases rose to 11,903, according to Union Health Ministry data updated today.
The death toll rose to 5,30,848 with seven fatalities, the health ministry said. Three deaths have been reported from Maharashtra, one from Karnataka and three reconciled from Kerala.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.51% and the weekly positivity rate at 1.53%.
The new cases bring the total Covid tally in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic to 4.47 crore (4,47,09,676). Active cases represent 0.03% of the total number of infections. Meanwhile, the national recovery rate has been recorded at 98.78%, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
The number of people who have recovered from Covid has risen to 4,41,66,925 with more than 1,200 new recoveries. The fatality rate for Covid cases was recorded at 1.19%.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, 11,336 doses of covid vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours. So far, 220.65 crores of vaccine doses – 95.20 crores of second doses and 22.86 crores of precautionary doses – have been administered as part of the national vaccination campaign.
