Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer believes that Ishan Kishan should be given time and added that patience is needed as the young batsman is still new to international cricket. Ishan Kishan failed to impress in the first two T20Is against West Indies and he would like to improve on that.
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer Talk about Ichan Kishan recently. The left-handed batsman struggled for points in the T20I’s first two games against the West Indies. As he seeks to find form, Wasim Jaffer, while speaking to ESPNCricinfo, shared his thoughts on the matter.
Wasim Jaffer during the interview said that the team should give Ishan Kishan another chance.
“We have to give Ishan Kishan another game and play him in the third T20I,” Jaffer said.
He also added that Ruturaj Gaikwad can be considered for the next Sri Lanka series
“Then we have to think about giving Ruturaj (Gaikwad) a chance in the Sri Lanka series. He should be given a longer string, maybe a series. No need to give Ruturaj a game. It makes sense to have continuity with the players so they know they’re going to play the whole series,” he said.
“We have to be patient with Ishan Kishan. We all know he’s a quality player. He’s in his 50s on both T20I and ODI debuts and has such a great IPL record for Bombay Indians. But it was just bought for ₹15 crore which is playing in the minds of gamers. And it wasn’t easy right away. The ball was spinning a bit. Even Rohit (Sharma) scored almost a run-a-ball for his 19. We have to leave him alone. Once he’s gone, everything will be fine.”
