Reece Topley expressed his delight at England’s second ODI win saying it was a terrific team performance thanks to a batting meltdown. Topley went for six wickets for 24 runs during his brilliant stint in the game, playing a crucial role in Friday’s 100 run win.
England recorded a 100-point win over India in the second ODI of the three-game series and leveled it 1-1. India opted to play first after winning the toss. England posted a total of 246 in the first innings and Moeen Ali was the top scorer with a shot of 47. India got a decent goal of 247 but they faltered.
The Indian team suffered a batting meltdown as they lost at regular intervals. Reece Topley was crucial with six wickets for 24 runs. He tore up the Indian batting order and his spell helped the team win the game by 100 runs.
“It was a great team performance…I’m just glad it went well. [today] means a lot. Of course, everyone dreams of playing for England… It’s a big game at the weekend, try to finish the series. I hope we do, and whatever comes next,” Topley said during the post-match presentation.
The third and final ODI of the series will be played on Sunday July 17 at Old Trafford. Both teams will be eager to seal the series victory in the final game.
