IND versus SL 2022 | Rohit Sharma picks his favorite Virat Kohli sleeves ahead of the latter’s 100th test

India’s new all-size captain Rohit Sharma has been a teammate of Virat Kohli for 15 years. Rohit, on the eve of Kohli’s 100th test match, which is due to take place in Mohali on March 4 against Sri Lanka, revealed his favorite move of Kohli so far in the international circuit.

Former captain of India Virat Kohli has 27 hundred and 28 half centuries in Test cricket before he is set to take the field for India’s 100th red-ball cricket appearance against Sri Lanka, in the first of a two-part series matches in Mohali.

Before the historic feat of Kohli, India’s current all-size captain Rohit Sharma, who has been playing with Kohli for nearly 15 years in the national colors, picked his favorite move from Kohli’s formidable career. Rohit also explained why he chose this Kohli sleeve.

When asked about his favorite Kohli shot, Rohit picked Kohli’s hundred tests in South Africa in 2013.

“As an individual, my fondest memory of him is his hundred test against South Africa in 2013. The ground we were battling on was very difficult; he had a lot of rebound and a lot of us were playing a test in South Africa for the first time,” Rohit said during the virtual press conference ahead of Mohali’s test.

“To then face Steyn, Morkel, Philander and Kallis… it was never going to be easy, but the way Virat beat in this game, scoring a hundred in the first set and an odd 90 in the second was sensational. It was one of his best shots. He did a hundred in Perth in 2018 too but I think the one in South Africa beats that.”

Speaking about their favorite memory as teammates, Rohit named winning Australia for the first time in 2018/2019 is still his favourite.

“As a team, my favorite memory is the series we won in Australia in 2018. It was a great series and Virat was the captain,” he said.

Kohli had also been to South Africa once in 2010/11, but only for limited runs. The 2013 tour was Kohli’s first visit there for a test mission. In the opening runs of the first test in Johannesburg, Kohli made 119 and nearly got another in the second.
