During the press conference, Ravindra Jadeja said: “I also told them that there were variable bounces and deliveries had started to turn. So I sent a message saying that there was something to offer on behalf of the band and I suggested that we should bat them now himself.
He added: “They were already tired from playing for almost a quarter to two days (five sessions),” said Jadeja, who also collected the wicket from rival skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, after the matchday two game.
“As they were tired, it was not easy to play the big shots right away and hit for long hours. So the plan was to declare quickly and exploit the fatigue of opposing hitters,” Ravindra further explained. Jadeja.
The left-arm bowler explained how the pitch was behaving and said: “When I was hitting there were deliveries that were spinning and some were going low. There was a natural variation in the surface and that was the plan. For keep the ball on the stumps and if we keep it on the stumps it can go straight or also spin from the same spot and that’s what happened if it spins or stays low there always had a chance of getting a wicket.
