Rishabh Pant said Dinesh Karthik’s half-century gave the team positivity after they beat South Africa in the fourth T20I by 82 points. Pant also added that he was pleased with how Hardik Pandya played a decisive role with a 46-point shot to tie the series 2-2.
The Indian team tied the T20I series at 2-2 with an 82-point victory in the fourth T20I. Losing the toss for the fourth consecutive time, India were asked to bat first. They were reduced to 81/4 at one point and were struggling to pick up the pace of execution. However, a crucial partnership between Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik paved the way for their victory. Both sewed 65 runs for the fifth wicket.
Karthik scored 55 game-breaking points from 27 balls while Hardik had 46 points from 31 balls. Karthik’s brilliant shot set the tone for India’s victory as they set a decent goal on the box. Karthik shifted gears in the slog overs and displayed prolific strikes.
“Really happy with the way Hardik put on a show. DK went straight for the kill and it gave us positivity. As an individual I can look to improve in some areas. Not too worried though; seek to take the positives and seek to improve,” Panting said in the post-game presentation.
Defending the target, Indian bowlers were everywhere among the visitors from the start. South Africa have lost wickets at regular intervals. Avesh Khan was the bowlers’ choice with four wickets from 18 runs while Yuzvendra Chahal scalped a few wickets. India wrapped up the visitors on a total of 87 and tied the series 2-2. Pant casually said that he might throw with his right hand and that might change the lucky dice for him.
“We talked about execution and playing better cricket and here are the results. The team that plays the best cricket wins the game. Maybe I will throw with the right hand in the next game and be positive, ”he explained.
