The Pentagon has deployed 750 soldiers active this week to support security in addition to 25,000 National Guardsmen who may be in the area to assist the civil authorities.
Biden was scheduled to travel to Washington via Amtrak, a nod to his long history of round trips to Delaware during his tenure as senator, but this plan was abandoned for security reasons. Instead, the president-elect traveled to Washington on Tuesday in a private plane.
Tech companies are also getting involved in security efforts. AirBnb said last week he was planning to cancel all DC area reservations during inauguration week and Facebook said it will block the Capitol region event listings during the inauguration.
