A dermatologist shared the five things you should never do and why they’re dangerous for your health.
Dr. Jean Charles is a certified skin expert based in Austin, Texas, who frequently shares tips and tricks on her TikTok account, where she has over 227,000 followers.
Recently, she revealed which products consumers should stop using, including heating pads and flushable wipes.
In a viral video, which has so far garnered over 6.4 million views, Dr Jean warned against using these daily products if one wants to improve their health.
She captioned the clip: “Nothing disgusts me more than seeing people walking barefoot through the airport.”
In her video, the dermatologist began by discussing what not to do when you have warts.
“I would never scratch or chew any warts I might have,” added Dr. Jean.
She explained that the warts were caused by a virus and picking them could spread them, making the situation worse.
“Warts are caused by the HPV virus and can spread easily when you attack them. And this can result in multiple warts from a single wart,” she added.
Dr. Jean revealed that she had treated several patients who chewed their warts and then grew them on their mouth.
The dermatologist said you should use an over-the-counter medication called Compound W to get rid of warts.
She noted that covering warts with duct tape also helped.
Then she talked about the dangers of heating pads.
“I would never use heating pads or heaters for an extended period of time,” she said.
The dermatologist added that this can lead to “permanent discoloration and, in some cases, cause skin cancers to form within this rash.”
Next, Dr. Jean informed users of the dangers of using disposable wipes.
“I would never use disposable wipes, especially for cleaning down there,” she said.
She noted that the ingredients in the wipes could trigger allergic reactions.
“It contains fragrances as well as preservatives which are known contact allergens. The itching can be unbearable,” the dermatologist explained.
The medical expert also revealed that she would never use natural deodorants because they were made with essential oils and fragrances that could trigger breakouts.
Instead of relying on a natural deodorant, Dr. Jean suggested using benzoyl peroxide.
Finally, she told viewers to never go out without shoes.
People flooded the comments section and praised the doctor for his advice.
One person said: “Leg problem with a radiator happened to me. The marks disappeared after a few weeks when I stopped using the heater.
Someone else commented: “I had the worst rash when I tried natural deodorant. Never again.’
Another user wrote: “Ugh, the heating pad one is so hard! It feels so good.’
“Thanks for sharing,” a fourth person added.
