Illegal Texas immigrant tries to take gun from Texas National Guardsman, authorities say

A previously deported illegal immigrant with a criminal record attempted to take a weapon away from a soldier on Tuesday after he fled across the southern border, officials said.
Ricardo Jamie-Ruiz, 45, a Mexican citizen, was among a large group of migrants who were stopped by Border Patrol agents near Bentsen Palm Community Park in Mission, Texas, the Department of Texas Public Safety.
The incident began around 4 a.m. when the migrants were taken into custody. A Texas National Guard soldier was helping border agents when Jamie-Ruiz allegedly fled.

After issuing verbal stop orders, he allegedly grabbed the soldier’s M-4 rifle “with both hands in an effort to seize the weapon for himself”, authorities said.
“The soldier was able to keep his weapon,” according to a statement from the DPS.
Jamie-Ruiz was arrested shortly after, and the Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
