Ilhan Omar booed offstage at Somali concert in his home country

A viral video shows Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) being booed off stage during a concert for Somalis in her home state of Minnesota.

Hosted by Somali singer Soldaan Seraar, the gig was derailed on Saturday night when the controversial MP took the stage and the audience greeted her with a chorus of angry boos and chants. Phrases such as “Get out!” and “Get out of here!” were heard screaming. The reactions became so intense that a gentleman had to implore the audience to calm down. Looked:

Ilhan Omar made no statement about it and only shared a video of herself being escorted onto the stage before the boos caught up with the crowd:

While it’s unclear exactly what sparked the boos from the crowd, Ilhan Omar’s embarrassment comes after she condemned the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“I am outraged that this right-wing court is rolling back generations of progress and banning individuals from having autonomy over their bodies,” she said in a statement last month. “Let’s be clear: This ruling is a blow to anyone who believes in the 14th Amendment and to anyone who believes there are limits to the extent to which the government can control the decisions we make in our private lives.

“The Senate has a moral responsibility to end the filibuster and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act to enshrine reproductive rights in law. I will not stop fighting to protect the freedom of women to control their bodies, their lives and their futures,” she continued.
