‘If Tyson Fury fights Dillian Whyte like he fought Deontay Wilder, he’s going to lose’ – Tony Bellew warns Tyson Fury ahead of his world title clash with Dillian Whyte
Tony Bellew has said he believes Tyson Fury will lose to Dillian Whyte if he employs the same tactic he used to beat Deontay Wilder.
Fury notoriously changed coaches in 2019, moving from defensive-minded Ben Davison to SugarHill Steward at Kronk Gym, which is famous for producing knockout artists.
After training with Steward, Fury has taken a much more aggressive front foot approach in his last two fights with Deontay Wilder, knocking out the “Bronze Bomber” each time.
Bellew, however, thinks it would be a mistake for Fury to adopt a similar game plan in his fight with Dillian Whyte.
He told IFL TV: “If Tyson Fury fights Dillian Whyte like he fought Deontay Wilder, he’s going to lose. Constantly pushing him back and trading.
“He can’t put it on Dillian Whyte. Physically he’s dealing with a whole other specimen, he’s not a guy with toothpicks for his legs who can’t push him away, he’s a guy who’s a big bump…he can fight at the inside and out and he’s not afraid to get hit.
Bellew went on to praise Whyte, explaining that despite Fury being a big bookie favorite, the night in the ring is going to be a tough one for the ‘Gypsy King’.
“Nobody in the world is having an easy night against Dillian Whyte, nobody.” Bellew said: “Oleksandr Usyk wouldn’t have an easy night, Tyson Fury wouldn’t have an easy night, AJ wouldn’t have an easy night.

“There’s not a heavyweight in the world that would have an easy night against Dillian Whyte, because of the attributes he has and what he’s willing to go through.
“You can’t have an easy night because he’s going to put it on you. The easiest thing is you cop him in the first round with a big hit and he’s gone, but like we we’ve seen, he’s also durable and he’s ready to stand up. Tyson is going to have his work cut out for him.
