Ice Cube slams black support for Democrats: ‘Nothing has changed’

Rapper and actor Ice Cube recently said decades of black community support for Democrats hasn’t brought change.

During a recent interview on the Full Send Podcast, one of the hosts asked her if there was a “stigma” in the black community regarding Republicans.

“I don’t know what’s going on in the African-American community about this. I mean, black people overwhelmingly supported the Democrats for fifty, sixty years. And nothing has changed. So something has to change,” Ice Cube replied.

The discussion begins at 56:25:

In a 2021 interview that resurfaced in October, Ice Cube said black Americans haven’t won much despite supporting the Democratic Party, according to Breitbart News.

Ice Cube also said the administration of President Joe Biden (D) has failed to meaningfully commit to its “deal with black America” centered on racial economic justice.

Additionally, he has been criticized for meeting with President Donald Trump.

“I just don’t think people understood exactly where I was coming from. And people are really used to seeing black people go to one side, to the Democratic Party,” he explained. “We’ve been doing this for a long time as a people and we haven’t really won as much as we should.”

Ice Cube apparently met with the Biden administration to discuss the contract after the president’s team initially refused to meet with him during the presidential race, Breitbart News reported in February 2021.

During the recent interview, Ice Cube said he never endorsed Trump or Biden and never asked to speak with either political party.

“I created a document called the Contract with Black America which set out many different issues which we believe were the reason there was so much unrest following the death of George Floyd,” he said. he continued:

I published the document and everyone wanted to talk to me. The Republicans asked to speak to me and the Democrats. I went to talk to them both about the contract. Republicans asked if they could implement some things from the contract into their proposal. And I said that the document was open to anyone who could use it in any way they wanted.

So if they just want to use it for educational purposes, they can. If they wanted to add more paragraphs or more ideas, they could. If they wanted to use it to change a law, they could. So I didn’t mind them using it. I met the Democrats. The Democrats said, “We like 90% of what’s in there and we’ll tell you about it after the election. And I said, “Okay.” And I felt like after that everyone started piling up and saying I was for Trump and I was for this and I was for that. It’s not true.

Ice Cube also noted, “Whoever is in power, you need to talk to the people in power. Even enemies speak.
