“I would like to tell you what I felt during this adventure”

On-loan midfielder Saul Niguez has confirmed he will leave Chelsea at the end of his season-long loan spell from Atletico Madrid.

According to Transfermarkt, Niguez’s stay at Stamford Bridge was due to end at the end of this month. However, the 27-year-old confirmed a few weeks in advance that he would be leaving the Blues ahead of the club’s 2022-23 season.

Niguez wrote on his Twitter account:

“Hello blues, I am writing to say goodbye to you. I would like to tell you how I felt during this adventure. Things did not start well at all. After a long time at home, everything changed n was not easy. (…)”

Hello blues, I am writing to take leave of you. I would like to tell you what I felt during this adventure. Things didn’t start well at all. After a long time at home, changing everything was not easy. (…)

The Spaniard continued:

“Little by little, things got better. Everything in life is about improving and learning, and that’s what I take away from this adventure. I want to thank the club for trying to take care of every detail to make me feel at home. I would also like to give recognition to each worker, thank you.”

Niguez added:

“Thank you for making this club so much bigger. Thank you to all the fans for supporting me through thick and thin. I will be forever grateful. Thank you to all the staff for allowing me to win titles with the blue shirt .”

He concluded :

“But above all, I wanted to thank my teammates. They were fundamental for me not to collapse. They helped me to continue to support the team and to live a calm and positive daily life. Thank you! @Chelsea FC

Saul Niguez played just under 25 times for Chelsea in the 2021-22 season

Niguez joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2021. He endured a difficult Premier League start and was substituted at half-time in the 3-0 win of the Blues against Aston Villa.

However, the Spaniard has slowly become a useful rotation option for Thomas Tuchel’s side. He ended the season with 23 appearances for the Blues in which he scored once. His only goal was a crucial equalizer in their 3-2 win over Luton Town in the FA Cup.

Niguez won the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea while picking up runners-up medals in the EFL Cup and FA Cup.
